The Mystic Lake Casino Hotel is owned and operated by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC), a government-perceived sovereign Indian clan.

The SMSC opened Little Six Bingo in 1982, which turned out to be Little Six Casino in 1990 following the government’s section of the Indian Gambling Regulatory Act of 1988 and the marking of a minimized game between the SMSC and the State of Minnesota. The SMSC and other Minnesota clans were the first in the United States to organize and sign ancestral state pacts with a state government identified with gambling.

SMSC

The Mystic Lake Casino Hotel opened in 1992. It is named after the nearby pool of a similar name. Its prosperity has helped reserve SMSC’s goals, including financial expansion and improvements to foundations and ancestral administrations from the 1990s to the present.

In 2012, the SMSC began a helpful 10-year concurrency with Canterbury Park in adjacent Shakopee, Minnesota, to help expand portfolios for live pony racing and joint shows between Canterbury Park and Mystic Lake. In 2013, the first full season of bustle under the deal, Canterbury Park ended its longest season since 2006, with a total allocation that was double the sum paid to pony owners in 2011.

In 2018, Mystic Lake Center, the most current expansion of the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel, opened. The 70,000 square foot meeting and occasion space compels meetings of all sizes for a variety of meetings and occasions, from conferences to meeting occasions, reunions, exhibitions, and weddings. Spiritualist Lake Center has a nine-story, 180-room lodging tower; three huge ballrooms with customizable formats; some more modest meeting rooms and a meeting room for leaders; and lots of regular light and stunning views of green.
